Renovation of a Maisonette with New Kitchen and Bathroom in The Hague

Design & Planning

We delivered a complete interior design, including material and color advice, layout studies, and technical preparation. Based on this plan, we phased the execution with clear milestones for demolition, installations, finishing, and detailing. In total, 10 m³ of rubble and dismantled materials were carefully removed, allowing us to build cleanly and efficiently.

Bathroom – Waterproof Foundation & Custom Comfort

The new bathroom was completely rebuilt with a waterproof system on floors and walls (approx. 28 m² total), followed by floor tiles (6 m²) and wall tiles (22 m²).

• Pipes & drainage: existing supply and drainage lines were rerouted to fit the new layout.
• Sanitary ware: wall-hung toilet (in-wall drainage) with accessories (toilet roll holder, brush, towel hook), and a 60 cm vanity with tap and mirror.
• Heating: electric towel radiator, 146.6 × 60 cm, 1000 watts.
• Shower/bath: integrated bath-shower combination with tiled surround and glass partition, including built-in tap and shower set.
• Niche & finishing: a spacious custom-built niche (plasterboard; approx. 4 m²) provides extra storage. All joints were neatly sealed and finished for long-lasting waterproofing.

Kitchen – Functional Precision with IKEA Metod

We dismantled the existing kitchen and installed a new IKEA Metod system with a composite countertop (without island).

• Installations: rerouting of water and drainage pipes, installation of a 2-phase Perilex connection for the cooktop, and fitting of a recirculation hood.
• Electrical: 5 single and 3 double wall sockets were newly installed for safe, future-proof use.
• Tiling & appliances: installation of 3 m² backsplash/kitchen floor tiles and full setup of all kitchen appliances.

Layout & Walls – More Spacious Upper Floor

On level 3, we removed interior walls and two doors to create one large bedroom; one door was reused. We installed 11 m² of new plasterboard walls (including the reused door) and finished 22 m² of walls with smooth plaster. Elsewhere, 3 m² of wall tiles were removed, after which the wall was filled, primed, and painted.
A new plasterboard ceiling panel was installed and fully plastered, primed, and painted to integrate the ceiling hatch neatly.

Laundry/Utility Corner

An existing sink was removed and the wall restored to make space for a washing machine and dryer. Supply and drainage lines were adapted with neat connection points and easy maintenance access.

Custom Wardrobe

We installed a custom-made wardrobe solution tailored to the new layout and circulation, with provisions for ventilation and cable routing where necessary.

Floors – From Rough to Continuous Finish

All existing floors (102 m²) across three levels were removed:

• Level 1: Hall
• Level 2: Living room, bedrooms, kitchen, and hall
• Level 3: Bedroom and hall

Where needed, 20 m² of wooden subfloor was leveled. Subsequently, 102 m² of new laminate flooring with skirting boards was installed, creating a seamless look that enhances spaciousness.

Painting & Final Finish

After priming and careful sanding, walls and ceilings were fully painted, resulting in a smooth, uniform base that distributes light beautifully. Details such as sealing joints, socket frames, and door frames were meticulously finished in the final stage.

Result

A future-ready home in The Hague with a waterproof, practical bathroom, an efficient kitchen with precise installations, a spacious master bedroom on the upper floor, and continuous new flooring. The combination of thoughtful design, technical precision, and high-quality finishing makes daily living comfortable, low-maintenance, and aesthetically consistent.
