Renovation of an apartment with new toilet and interior doors in Amsterdam

Design & planning

We started with material and detailed agreements for the toilet (tile height 1.5 m, choice of joint and profile) and the door package (solid hardwood, two hallway doors with glass). The logistical plan provided for the removal of debris in two phases for a clean construction site and minimal inconvenience for residents and neighbours.

Demolition & preparation

• Phase 1 debris removal.
  
  
• Toilet: dismantling sanitary facilities, removing wall coverings (±10 m²) and floor tiles (±1 m²).
  
  
• Preparation of surfaces for new tiling, stucco and installation work.

Toilet — new layout & finish

• Tiling: installation of floor tiles (1 m²) and wall tiles (5.7 m²) up to 1.5 m high for a calm horizontal view.
  
  
• Stuc & paint: the upper area above the tiles (± 5 m²) is plastered, primed and painted.
  
  
• Restrooms: new wall-hung toilet (wall drain), washbasin with faucet and mirror, and accessories (toilet roll holder, brush, towel hook). In addition, a hand shower/bidet function has been integrated for extra comfort.
  
  
• Electricity & light: wiring and switch in black (ABB Future Linear), neatly integrated.
  
  
• Ventilation: fan replacement for better air exchange.
  
  
• Sealing: all connections are carefully sealed for hygiene and durability.

Doors & frames

• Five solid hardwood interior doors (without glass) and two glass hallway doors installed.
  
  
• Including new frames, hinges and locks, sealing and painting in the agreed color scheme.
  
  
• Extra attention to fit, seal and close comfort, so that doors close silently and sound is better attenuated.

Skirting boards & gap sealing

• New skirting boards throughout the apartment, tightly connected to walls and doorways.
  
  
• Elastic draught and crevice strips applied to windows and doors for a more pleasant indoor climate and quieter spaces.

Living room

• Ceiling: plastering, priming and painting (±29 m²).
  
  
• Walls: plastering, priming and painting (±51 m²) for an even, light-friendly basis.
  
  
• Elektra: one dual WCD removed, 6 dual WCDs moved, 8 new dual WCDs added, plus internet and telephone connections (×2) —all in black ABB Future Linear. Removed and replaced unnecessary (white) fixtures, thermostat renewed, and switches optimized in logical positions.

Delivery & Phase 2 debris removal

After checking sanitary, ventilation and electrical engineering, everything was delivered clean and the second debris removal was carried out. The apartment looks quieter and more consistent: a modern, low-maintenance toilet and high-quality interior doors that complete the whole thing — both aesthetically and in everyday use.
